How to clean a steamer?

Cleaning a steamer requires meticulous steps to ensure its effectiveness and safety. First, when cleaning the appearance of the steamer, use a dry cloth with soapy water to wipe it, but avoid using organic solvents to avoid damaging the machine. The bracket needs to be cleaned with a soft brush to gently brush off the dust. If you encounter stubborn stains, you can use a detergent to clean it and dry it. If the machine has an odor, you can wipe it with a cotton cloth dipped in lemon juice to remove it.

For internal cleaning, especially scale problems, you can take the following methods:

1. Vinegar or citric acid cleaning

Mix white vinegar or citric acid with water in an appropriate proportion, pour it into the water tank, turn on the machine to let the steam spray, and this process may need to be repeated several times to completely remove the scale. After completion, rinse with clean water.

2. Baking soda solution

Mix baking soda and water into a solution, pour it into the water tank, and let it stand for a while before cleaning.

3. Dilute hydrochloric acid (use with caution)

Dilute the dilute hydrochloric acid and add it to the water tank, shake it well and let it stand for a while, and rinse it with clean water after cleaning.

4. Tea leaves or tea polyphenols

Mix tea leaves with hot water, soak and clean the scale.

After long-term use, if you find that the steam volume is reduced or the ironing effect is not good, it indicates that scale may have accumulated inside. At this time, it is recommended to use the above method for deep cleaning. For difficult-to-clean parts such as pipes and nozzles, you can soak them in white vinegar or the above solution to dissolve the scale. Note that some high-end garment steamers may have an automatic cleaning function that uses a special descaling agent for operation.
